Apple Watch Settings
Dedicated panel: vibrations, Live Activity, alerts
Apple Watch Panel
All Apple Watch–related preferences live in a dedicated panel, reachable from:
Settings → Apple Watch
The Apple Watch app is included with the Premium plan. On the free version, this row shows "🔒 Included with Premium" and offers to see the plans; the watch displays "Next dose" with the time of your next dose (without the medication name) and the line "Open HoraDose on iPhone to activate Premium" — tapping that screen offers the plans the next time you open HoraDose on your iPhone. Your dose reminders keep reaching the watch either way — the iPhone automatically mirrors its notifications to your wrist.
General
- Vibrations on Apple Watch: the small vibrations the watch plays while you are using the app (tapping a button, confirming a dose). Turn it off for silent handling. ⚠️ This setting does not affect your medication reminders: those arrive as notifications and always vibrate.
- Live Activity: shows your upcoming dose in the iPhone Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen. The banner stays visible all day — redesigned look (Watch palette, coloured medication pill with initial, "Scheduled 14:00 · in 12 min" subtitle). When every dose for the day is done, it displays a green check before auto-hiding and reappearing at your wake time. If you swipe it away, it comes back on its own at your next dose — swiping clears the banner in front of you, it does not switch the feature off. You can also bring it back right away with Reactivate banner in this same panel. If nothing shows up while the switch is on, your iPhone is blocking it: the row then reads "Blocked by an iPhone setting" — tap it, then turn on "Live Activities" in iPhone Settings (the banner returns as soon as you come back to HoraDose). If you haven't opened HoraDose for a while, the banner may show "Out of date": open HoraDose to update your doses.
- iPhone Home Screen widgets: three sizes available on the home screen. Small and Medium show the next dose with its subtitle. The Large also shows the full day timeline: every dose appears with its time, name and status (✓ taken, to take, upcoming). On the Medium and Large, when several medications are due together, the card's circle shows their icons (two icons and the total number from four). Long-press the Home Screen → + → search for "HoraDose" → pick the size. If you haven't opened HoraDose for a while, the widget shows "Out of date" instead of the dose: open the app to update it.
- iPhone Lock Screen widget (new): a mini rectangular widget (172 × 76 pt) can be added to the Lock Screen. It displays the medication's coloured pill, name and time-first subtitle ("Scheduled 14:00 · in 12 min"). Four automatic variants: upcoming (neutral subtitle), overdue (amber subtitle), taken (light green background for 10 min after the dose with a peek at the next one), active restriction (amber subtitle "Restriction until 20:30 · 2 h 31 left"). To add it: long-press the Lock Screen → Customize → tap the area below the clock → + → search for "HoraDose".
- iPhone single-line widget above the clock (new): a single-line widget can be added in the unique iOS slot just above the clock (the same slot shared with other "inline" widgets like Weather or Activity). It shows for example "💊 Sinemet · Scheduled 14:00 · in 12 min" and automatically switches between five variants: upcoming, overdue ("to take"), taken ("✓ Sinemet taken at 14:02 · next at 18:00", for 10 min after the dose), active restriction ("💊 Sinemet · Restriction until 20:30"), and the state of the day once nothing is left to take. That last variant says what actually happened: "✓ All doses taken today" only when everything was taken, otherwise "1 unconfirmed dose today", "All of today's doses are recorded" (a dose was deliberately skipped) or "No doses scheduled today". The text colour follows the wallpaper (iOS tint inheritance) — no colour is forced. To add it: long-press the Lock Screen → Customize → tap the area above the clock → + → search for "HoraDose".
- iPhone Control Center button (iOS 18+) (new): a "HoraDose — Next dose" button can be added to the iOS Control Center (and therefore reached from the Lock Screen via a long press on the action button or via the pull-down Control Center). The button is passive: it simply opens HoraDose on the home screen, positioned on the dose of the moment, so you can confirm the dose manually. No dose is recorded without your explicit tap. To add it: Settings → Control Center → Add controls → search for "HoraDose".
- "Quick menu" button (iPhone, iOS 18+) (new): a third "HoraDose — Menu rapide" button opens a small sheet with three large buttons — Home, Mood and symptoms and Ensemble — to jump straight to the right place in one tap. "Mood and symptoms" opens the mood sheet on the home screen. "Cancel", at the bottom, closes the sheet. Two direct buttons also exist: "Next dose" and "How are you feeling?" (which opens the same mood sheet). All are added from the same place: Settings → Control Center → Add controls → search for "HoraDose".
Vibrations on the watch
Medication reminders reach the watch as notifications: your iPhone sends them, the watch displays them and vibrates on its own. There is nothing to configure for that — and nothing in HoraDose can switch it off. Food restriction notices ("a restriction is coming up", "you can eat again") arrive the same way.
The Vibrations on Apple Watch setting therefore does not govern reminders: it governs the small vibrations the watch plays while you are using the app — when you tap a button, when you confirm a dose. Turn it off if you prefer handling the watch silently.
The Animation when dose is due toggle fires a short pulse and a light haptic on the Watch at the exact moment of a dose, provided the HoraDose Watch app is open on the wrist. When ON, the Watch takes over and the iPhone stays silent for that precise moment. When OFF, the iPhone plays the animation locally instead (as long as the equivalent iPhone toggle is also ON).
Important
HoraDose helps you keep track of your medications but does not replace your vigilance. Apple Watch vibrations can be silenced by iOS settings (silent mode, Do Not Disturb). Keep a second way to verify your doses.
